In his internationally acclaimed work, Rinus Van de Velde (°1983) creates a parallel universe where elements of reality and imagination merge into a unique form of visual storytelling. Van de Velde takes us on a journey through his imagination, a place that transcends time and space, where all encounters are possible and where every path can be walked.
This book sketches a circular story of departure and return, using the train as a metaphor, and offers an overview of Van de Velde's most recent works. He enters into dialogue with artists such as Pierre Bonnard, Joseph Cornell, Fischli/Weiss, Joan Mitchell, Claude Monet, Monster Chetwynd, Laure Prouvost, Josephine Troller and Jean Tinguely, whose work has also been included.
Inner Travels is the book accompanying the exhibition of the same name, which will take place in Bozar from February 18 to May 15, 2022, and will be published on the occasion of the EUROPALIA Arts Festival.
