DAIDO MORIYAMA: Records 2
Created by Daidō Moriyama in 1972, the magazine Record serves as a space for expression, halfway between a personal diary and a field journal: three or four times a year, he publishes a selection of the photographs he takes on a daily basis. This volume, which compiles issues 31 to 50, features images taken between 2016 and 2021. While the most radical of Japanese photographers expresses a rather contemplative perspective, the eye retains its wild and poetic sharpness. Enigmatic silhouettes, plump mouths, chaotic urbanity, suspended silences, signs, and omens: Moriyama’s fiercely contrasted photographs showcase his graphic boldness and reveal themselves admirably unruly.
