BRUNO V. ROELS: Woke Up Laughing (Cinematic), 2023

Part of Bruno V. Roels' solo show "Woke Up Laughing" at Gallery FIFTY ONE was a large window installation of silkscreen prints. The edition is called 'Woke Up Laughing (Cinematic)', referring to both the title of the solo show and the cinema as a recurring motif in Roels' oeuvre. The way he plays with photographic repetition and variation can be compared to looking closely at an analogue film reel.

All prints in the edition are hand printed by the artist, and no two are the same. He compares the process to his work in the dark room: making endless variations of the same negative or image.

The proceeds of the sales will go to an environmental charity.
